IDA (CRPD Forum) advocated in 2008 for a Conference of States Parties (COP) that would have substantive content, beyond its role of (re)electing the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and which would, different to other meetings of states parties connected to human rights treaties, allow for meaningful participation of NGOs.
