INFORMATION NOTE

10th Session of the CRPD Committee

Geneva, 2 September 2013 – Today the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities opens its 10th session (2-13 September 2013) in which it will examine the reports of Austria, Australia and El Salvador, and adopt Lists of Issues on Sweden, Azerbaijan and Costa Rica.

The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD Committee) is the body of independent experts which monitors implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by States Parties. All States Parties are obliged to submit regular reports to the Committee on how the rights of persons with disabilities are being implemented. The Committee examines each report, holds an interactive dialogue with the State delegation in a public session and makes recommendations on the steps which should be taken to improve CRPD implementation.

Programme of Work

The following public sessions will be held at the Committee’s 10th session (Geneva (Switzerland) time zone, Central European Time Zone):

Monday 2 September

  • 10am- Opening

Tuesday 3 September

  • 10am- Review of Austria continued
  • 3pm- Review of Australia

Wednesday 4 September

  • 10am- Review of Australia continued
  • 3pm- Review of El Salvador

Friday 6 September

  • 10am- Review of El Salvador continued

Tuesday 10 September

  • 10am- Meeting with States Parties
