The International Disability Alliance is celebrating the life of Stephen Hawking, the English theoretical physicist known for his work in relativity and quantum mechanics.
 
Hawking combined family life with his research into theoretical physics, in addition to an extensive programme of travel and public lectures. Professor Hawking went on to Cambridge to become a brilliant researcher and Professorial Fellow at Gonville and Caius College. Hawking had over a dozen honorary degrees and was awarded the CBE in 1982. He was a fellow of the Royal Society and a member of the US National Academy of Science. Stephen Hawking was regarded as one of the most brilliant theoretical physicists since Einstein.
