The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) provides the main UK government scholarship scheme led by international development objectives. The CSC is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for International Development (DFID).

The CSC operates within the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) and is a vivid demonstration of the UK’s enduring commitment to the Commonwealth.

Additional Resources and Implementation
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK commits £300,000 to support outreach activities and to encourage scholarships for people with disabilities and in subject areas related to the rights of people with disabilities. We will work with disabled people’s organisations to encourage participation, assist with applications, nominate applicants, and identify where better support for candidates with disabilities is required to achieve greater inclusion.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan: This commitment will enable an increase in scholarships for people with disabilities and in subject areas related to the rights of people with disabilities from the 2019 UK academic year onwards. In 2019, we will identify and appoint disabled people’s organisations to nominate applicants for our programmes, and will work with our UK university partners to identify and promote academic courses related to the rights of people with disabilities.
