The Self-help Group for Cerebral Palsy, Nepal, is a non-governmental and non-profit organization fully committed to helping children and adults with cerebral palsy and to providing emotional and practical support to their parents. The group, established in October 1987, is a team of medical professionals, university teachers, parents of disabled children and social workers with a common desire to improve the quality of life of people with cerebral palsy. SGCP is an associate organization member of International Cerebral Palsy Society, London.

Though initiated with 6 cp cases in the fiscal year 1986-87 with acute technical constraints and no resource whatsoever SGCP as the only NGO of its kind could grow and develop at its own rate to the satisfaction of hundreds of cp cases and their parents living in different communities of many districts of our country.

Representation and empowerment of persons with disabilities
This is to improvephysical and intellectual capacity of persons with cerebral palsy to fulfil the full enjoyment of life of person with disability. Many organizations and individuals in Nepal and abroad has supported for last several years.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan 
There are some 80,000 cases of children with CP and every year the cases adds up. The rehabilitation is in fact never ending business. the target is to reach all existing cases and as well as the new cases. The plan should be as follows: year 1: 10,000 cases, year 2: 20,000, year 3: 40,000 and year 5: 60,000 cases and so on.

Policy, standards and regulations
It includes infrastructure, training of teachers, special services such as physiotherapy, counselling, OT and others. Physical facilities needs to be improved, besides transportation should be available. Above all the attitude of parents, staff and community needs to enhanced so that they are helpful to the situation of disability.

Orientation to community and persons at policy level, training of teachers, improvement of physical facilities of schools, disability friendly transportation should include the planning. Besides professionals ( PT, OT, etc.) needs to be engaged.

Skills development for decent work
Training of persons with cerebral palsy is needed. They depend on their capacity of particular person. Training institutions need to be opened and trainers are placed.

A survey is needed to identity various trainings so that persons with cp get appropriate training. Bases on this survey, training institutions can be opened.
