Overview: The 11th session of the Conference of States Parties (COSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will take place from Tuesday 12 to Thursday 14 June 2017 at UN Headquarters in New York. On Monday 11 June, a Civil Society CRPD Forum will be held to complement the Conference.

The overarching theme of the Conference is “Leaving no one behind through the full implementation of the CRPD”. Three round tables will address the following themes:

  • Roundtable One: National fiscal space, public-private partnerships and international cooperation for strengthening the implementation of the CRPD
  • Roundtable Two: Women and girls with disabilities
  • Roundtable Three: Political participation and equal recognition before the law

Cross-cutting theme: Promoting high-quality disability statistics and disaggregation of data by disability status for the full realization of the rights of persons with disabilities

The COSP Bureau has invited civil society, through the Civil Society Coordination Mechanism (CSCM), to select i) Opening and Closing Session Speakers; ii) civil society panelists for each of the round tables; and iii) civil society co-chairs for each of the round tables.

Applicants must have demonstrated expertise on the round table theme for which they are applying. Experience in facilitation of high-level events (national, regional or global) is required. Strong proficiency in writing is preferred.
