The CRPD Committee’s 10th session took place from 2 to 13 September. It was formally opened on Monday 2 September. During the first week of the 10th session, interactive dialogues were held with Austria, Australia and El Salvador.
During the second week, the Committee held its first ever meeting with States Parties, as well as adopted lists of issues on Azerbaijan, Costa Rica and Sweden. The 10th session was officially closed on Friday 13 September.
The Committee met in closed sessions to adopt the Concluding Observations on Austria, Australia and El Salvador as well as the list of issues on Azerbaijan, Costa Rica and Sweden.
The Committee also adopted their first draft General Comments on Article 12 on equal recognition before the law and Article 9 on accessibility, as well as launched a call for comments on those initial drafts setting a deadline of 31 January 2014 for contributions to be submitted in English, French or Spanish to crpd [at] ohchr.org. All public sessions, including the opening, reviews of Austria, Australia and El Salvador, and the meeting with States Parties were webcast live by IDA and have been archived for subsequent viewing.
The 11th session will take place from 31 March to 11 April 2014 during which the Committee will review Azerbaijan, Costa Rica and Sweden. A pre-sessional week will be held from 14 to 17 April 2014 during which lists of issues will be adopted on Belgium, Denmark, Ecuador, Korea, Germany, Mexico and New Zealand, for which the following country rapporteurs have been designated respectively: Lotfi Ben Lallahom, Martin Babu Mwesigwa, Carlos Rios Espinosa, Monthian Buntan, Diane Mulligan, Ana Pelaez Narvaez and Ron McCallum.

Compilation of the Committee’s Concluding Observations and List of Issues:
As announced at the Committee’s public closing session, IDA has published a compilation of the Committee’s Concluding Observations and List of Issues adopted to date, presented per CRPD provision. This compilation serves as a tool for DPOs, civil society, States and others to have a more holistic view of the Committee’s work and to render more accessible and transparent the Committee’s interpretations per provision to date. Those Concluding Observations and List of Issues adopted at the 10th session will also shortly be incorporated into the present compilation.
