The 13th session of the Human Rights Council took place from 1 to 26 March 2010, in Geneva.

IDA has prepared a report on the 13th session of the Human Rights Council.

Resolutions

The Human Rights Council adopted a resolution on the rights of persons with disabilities. The resolution, co-sponsored by Mexico and New Zealand, is focused on the national implementation and monitoring of the CRPD and introduce as the theme for 2011 the role of international cooperation in support of national efforts for the realization of the rights of persons with disabilities.

Annual Interactive Debate on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

On 5 March 2010, the Human Rights Council held a debate on national implementation and monitoring frameworks of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. To support the debate, the Office of the High Commissioner produced a thematic study on the structure and role of national mechanisms for the implementation and monitoring of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Disability analysis of the reports prepared for the 13th session of the HRC

IDA made a disability analysis of the reports that have been prepared for the 13th session of the Human rights Council.

Special Procedures

The following Special Procedures reports, which will be presented to the 13th session of the Human Rights Council, include references to persons with disabilities: Special Rapporteur on adequate housing; Representative of the Secretary-General on the human rights of internally displaced persons; Independent Expert on minority issues; Working Group on arbitrary detention; Working Group on involuntary disappearances; Special Rapporteur on the right to food and Special Rapporteur on Torture.

All UPR Working Group reports which were prepared at the 6th session of the UPR (30 November to 11 December 2009) and that will be presented to the 13 session of the Council include references to persons with disabilities.

IDA has undertaken an analysis of other reports that have also been prepared for the 13th session of the Human Rights Council. Especially relevant is the report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the enhancement of international cooperation in the field of human rights which includes the IDA contribution to the consultation undertaken by the OHCHR following Human Rights Council Resolution 10/6 on international cooperation.
