Day of General Discussion

On 18 July, the Committee held a half Day of General Discussion to commence the process of elaborating a “General Recommendation on Women in Conflict and Post-conflict Situations.” During the discussion, IDA, represented by Myra Kovary of the International Network of Women with Disabilities (INWWD), took the floor to raise the specific concerns of women and girls with disabilities for whom the risks posed by conflict situations are further exacerbated by their double marginalisation on account of their gender and disability, leading to exclusion from emergency services and humanitarian assistance, and from the processes of post conflict justice, peace building and reconciliation. Pre-sessional Working Group
