GLAD Communique from Network meeting, 2-3 March 2017, Berlin (PDF)

The GLAD Network met from 2 - 3 March 2017 in Berlin, Germany. The meeting was jointly organised by GLAD co-chairs, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the International Disability Alliance (IDA), along with GIZ (Germany), and was hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ).

The meeting was opened by Senator the Hon Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific, with participation from Mr. Carsten Schmitz-Hoffmann, Head of the Economic and Social Development Division at the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). 

The Network meeting provided space for members to exchange and intensify joint action on inclusion within the context of the 2030 Agenda principle that promises to ‘leave no one behind’. In several working streams network members and potential members mapped out relevant actions around inclusion of persons with disabilities in international cooperation. Topic-specific working groups covered inclusive social protection, education and humanitarian cooperation. There was also be space for peer-to-peer exchanges by bilateral and multilateral donors and organisations, the private sector, foundations and other GLAD members committed to inclusive cooperation.
