From 10 to 15 September 2018, the Forum of Organisations of Persons with Disabilities of Mozambique (FAMOD) is organising the Technical workshop on monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in line with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), in Maputo, Mozambique, with support from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), Light for the World (LFTW) and the International Disability Alliance (IDA), in partnership with the Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted, Humanity and Inclusion (HI), the Disability Rights Fund (DRF) and Sightsavers.

Aims
This workshop aims to strengthen the capacities of DPO advocates from Mozambique and Angola to develop a report on the implementation of the CRPD and SDG in their countries. It is also aimed to foster momentum and opportunities to develop a Bridge CRPD-SDGs training to Portuguese speaking countries in 2019-2020.

Participants
The workshop is attended by representatives of organizations of persons with disabilities (DPOs) from different regions of Mozambique, including Sofala, Nampula, Inhambane, Gaza, Maputo, Niassa, Tete, Manica, Niassa, Zambezia and Cabo Delgado with persons with disabilities from different groups including persons with albinism, deaf people, people with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities, and two participants from Angola.

Agenda
The agenda includes analysis and examination of the key concepts and structure of the CRPD and an introduction to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Inclusion and accessibility are intrinsic not only to the content, but the whole programme is delivered in a way that reflects the diversity of the group, inclusive of all, with participatory methodology and through group work.

Team of facilitators
The workshop is jointly facilitated by the national representatives Cantol Pondja (President of FAMOD), Zacarias Zicai (LFTW), Jorge Manhique (DRF), Rui Maquene (HI), with support from Cristina Pires (Sightsavers). The international team is comprised of Fernanda Almeida (RIADIS, Bridge CRPD-SDGs Alumni) Sigrun Palmisano (LFTW) and Tchaurea Fleury (IDA, Bridge CRPD-SDGs Coordinator).

DPOs from Mozambique and Angola are preparing a parallel report on the implementation of the UN CRPD, which will be submitted to the CRPD Committee and will be used to contribute to the voluntary national review when it will be up to review.
