Asia Pacific Regional CRPD Seminar (Manila, February 2009)
On 11 and 12 February 2009, IDA (CRPD Forum) organized a CRPD Seminar for the Asia-Pacific region in Manila, Philippines. Participating organizations represented countries across the region, including but not limited to India, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Vietnam.
The seminar was co-hosted by the Philippines National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and the National Federation of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in the Philippines (KAMPI).
Targeted discussions addressed regional efforts made to implement the CRPD, similarities between the CRPD and the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and other topics. On Day 2, participants finalized the Manila Declaration on CRPD Implementation and Monitoring.
