March 21, 2019

Each year, World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated on 21 March!

Down Syndrome International (DSI), a member of the International Disability Alliance, is hosting a series of exciting events, activities and campaigns. Keep reading below to learn what is happening this year.

Remember to use the hashtags #WDSD19, #WorldDownSyndromeDay and #LeaveNoOneBehind.

  • DSi will be at the United Nations in Geneva supporting self-advocates with Down syndrome to speak up about employment. Read more here.
  • DSi will also be at the United Nations HQ in New York where we will reach out to key stakeholders in education to ensure they understand how to provide opportunities, on a fully inclusive basis. Read more here.
  • For #WDSD19, DSI has asked their national members to produce and send  videos based on our call to action “Leave no one behind”. We have received over 40 videos all of which are available to view on Down TV.
  • DON'T FORGET! #LotsOfSocks campaign! We ask our supporters to wear  lots of socks, mismatched socks or their craziest pair, and when people ask about them, you can tell them that you are supporting people with Down syndrome.
