Driving health equity for persons with disabilities through inclusive health system strengthening

This guide is designed to encourage Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) to actively participate in health system strengthening processes to ensure health equity for persons with disabilites. The approach, grounded in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, is to use OPD advocacy for disability-inclusive approaches at every stage of health system planning, policy design, implementation, service delivery and monitoring and accountability. The ultimate goal is to have active and meaningful participation of OPDs across the health system, which will help create sustainable, inclusive, accessible, and equitable health policies and practices, to realize the right to the highest attainable standard of health of persons with disabilities.
