The UN Disability and Development Report 2024, offers a sobering analysis of global progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) concerning persons with disabilities. As the world approaches the 2030 deadline for achieving these goals, the report reveals significant shortfalls and disparities that threaten to leave persons with disabilities behind. We have summarised the key elements of the report, which highlights the urgent need for accelerated action to ensure that the SDGs are achieved inclusively, and for the Pact for the Future to specifically highlight that sustainable development must include persons with disabilities as active participants and equal beneficiaries. We echo the call throughout the report for representative organizations of persons with disabilities to be included and funded to participate in and benefit from international cooperation and development policies, programmes, and activities.
