The International Disability Alliance (IDA) and the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) are holding the Module B of the Bridge CRPD-SDGs Training of Trainers 2018 with support from the World Blind Union, TCI Asia Pacific, Sightsavers, ADD International, Bridging the Gap Project – Austria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Finland, UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Module B covers issues related to public policy and governance for CRPD and inclusive SDGs implementation, including national data collection, public budget, budgetary advocacy, legal harmonization and the use of UN accountable mechanisms with two focus sessions on data and social protection, and inclusive facilitation.

In addition to the training, the Bridge trainees will be participating in the UN World Data Forum, that is taking place from 22 to 24 October. This year’s Data Forum has a dedicated session to disability disaggregated data, debating disaggregation efforts across a range of policy domains and data sources on persons with disabilities. 

 

Trainees are advocates from the International Federation of Hard of Hearing People (IFHOH), International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IFSBH), World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), African Disability Forum (ADF), Latin American Network of non-Governmental Organizations of Persons with Disabilities and their Families (RIADIS), TCI Asia Pacific, the Indigenous Persons with Disabilities Global Network (IPWDGN) and staff members of the ADD International and Bridging the Gap – Austria.

 The Bridge CRPD-SDGs Training Initiative brings 26 people to the World Data Forum, including trainees, sign language interpreters, captioners, personal assistants and facilitators from Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America, and Europe involved in national and regional advocacy as well as in the delivery of Bridge CRPD - SDGs cycles. 100% of the trainees are persons with disabilities themselves, of those 66% are women; and 84% are from the most underrepresented groups, including people with psychosocial disabilities, indigenous persons with disabilities, person with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, person with albinism, person with autism.
