Representation and empowerment of persons with disabilities
The International Committee of the Red Cross is committed to ensuring the participation of persons with disabilities in its community-based protection approach and accountability to affected people.
Timeframe and/or implementation plan
Starting in 2019, community-based protection will apply targeted measures for persons with disabilities in the community to contribute to co-designing multidisciplinary disability-inclusive protection programmes.
Stereotypes, attitudes and behaviours
The International Committee of the Red Cross is committed to improving awareness among its staff and understanding barriers that persons with disabilities face in contexts of armed conflict and other situations of violence.
Timeframe and/or implementation plan
In 2018-2019, awareness and understanding of barriers that persons with disabilities face will be improved through revisions of staff integration and management training using case studies for guidance in inclusive approaches, and applying a disability-lens to analysis, needs assessments, and monitoring & evaluation (ongoing beyond 2019).
