The Ministry of Social Affairs is responsible for the development and implementation of government policy on prevention, assistance and Socially Vulnerable Persons protection.

This is a Ministry that has deployed nearby structures throughout the country, which are the Regional and Divisional delegation of Social Affairs, Operational Technical Units (Social Centres and Social Welfare Services) Institutions and Specialized Institutions.

We take the commitment to continue the empowerment of persons with disabilities and  to make them  real actors of the development of our country CAMEROON. On the other hand, the objective of the Ministry of Social Affairs is to make  them autonomous and to facilitate their insertion into the society.

The Government of Cameroon has undertaken to include Persons living with disabilities in all aspects of life. Accessibility will  be considered in the construction of all public buildings including school. Persons living with disabilities are encouraged to play a vital role  in the political sphere. They are encouraged to get themselves registered in the electoral registers and pooling centres are rearranged to be more accessible;

The Government has enacted a law in in favour of persons with disabilities. The  application texts are being examined at this moment  by  all the administrations concerned.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan: Being a gradual process, we are convinced that  we will meet up with the action plan which has been drawn up to end 2019 with other stakeholders.

The taking into consideration of the handicap approach when it comes to employment, education and construction. In  the texts that are being examined, we are committed to respect the handicap approach with respect to infrastructure, education and employment.
