Policy, legislation and its implementation
Strong Disability Policy in Myanmar (Burma)

Timeframe and/or implementation plan: Formulation of Disability Policy after a situation analysis and in cooperation with National Committee on Rights of People with Disabilities in 5 years

Inclusive education sector plans
Develop, train, and support a professional education work force that responds to inclusive education and encourages teachers with disabilities into the profession

Timeframe and/or implementation plan: Training teachers in pre-service teacher education institutions in Burma to teach Children with Disabilities and Special Education Needs in 5 years

Inclusive environments in the workplace
Align existing policies and legislation with the CRPD, or develop new CRPD compliant policy/legislation in conjunction with repealing legislation that contravenes the CRPD.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan: Discussion of CRPD with employers and private sector to promote inclusion at workplace in 5 to 10 years.

New programmes or services
Exploration on the use of Assistive technology.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan: Working with development partners and IT companies to explore how PwDs can be assisted with technology in their access to state education in 5 years

Commit resources to support strengthened disability data
Announce commitment to undertake a national disability survey with direct input from and/or in partnership with organisations of persons with disabilities

Timeframe and/or implementation plan: With support of DFID and other development partners, conduct a national disability survey in 5 years  

Develop and publish National Action Plans and information on disability inclusion including timelines and resources, in close consultation with organisations of persons with disabilities and including under-represented groups such as women with disabilities

Timeframe and/or implementation plan: With findings from  National disability survey results and with the formulation of Disability policy, design more inclusive plans for women and girls with disabilities in 5 years

Explore ways to support persons with disabilities in conflict affected areas in Burma (Myanmar).

Timeframe and/or implementation plan: Work with existing programmes or design new programmes with the support of DFID to address the needs of PwDs in Rakhine and Kachin conflict areas
