The Uganda Ministry of ICT and National Guidance is mandated to provide leadership, coordination, support and advocacy in the formulation of policy, laws, regulations and strategy for the ICT sector in Uganda, to foster the achievement of national development goals.

Policy and guidance

  1. Accessibility standards: Government will identify and adopt accessibility standards of ICT devices and services that have been developed by international standards bodies such as ITU, ISO and W3C.
  2. Public procurement: Government will ensure that ICT goods and services procured using public funds  provide provision for use and access to every member of the public including persons with disabilities.
  3. Tariffs: Government will consider mechanisms for reducing or waiving taxes on assistive ICT products used by persons with disabilities.
  4. ICT for Disability Policy: Government will promote the approval and implementation of the ICT for Disability policy.
