Australia signed the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on 18 December 2011 and ratified it on 8 January 2007

Australia has ratified, but not signed:

• Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights aiming to the abolition of the death penalty

• Optional Protocol of the Convention against Torture
