The 3rd session of the CRPD Committee took place from 22nd to 26th February, in Geneva. During this session, the Committee adopted its Rules of Procedure and Working Methods, which will be published shortly. Moreover, three working groups were established, one of them to produce a General Comment on Article 12 of the CRPD on legal capacity, a second to prepare the Day of General Discussion to be held at the next session, which will focus on Article 9: Accessibility, and finally, a third that will focus on the situation of persons with disabilities in situations of natural disaster, starting with Haiti.
In order to address the issue of individual communications under the Optional Protocol to the Convention, the Committee elected by consensus Ms. María Soledad Cisternas as Special Rapporteur on Communications.
