DSI are sending an open invitation to self-advocates with Down syndrome, families and other interested persons to come along and meet with policy makers, including representatives from the UN Human Rights Council and members of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, to take part in their 2017 #MyVoiceMyCommunity campaign.

Dates: Tuesday 21 March and Wednesday 22 March 2017.
Location: Geneva, Switzerland.

Self-Advocacy Pre-Event Workshop - 21 March 2017

To be held on Tuesday 21 March 2017 from 1pm-5pm at the John Knox Centre, Meeting room Flory.
Location: 27, chemin des Crêts de Pregny - 1218 Grand-Saconnex, Geneva.

The workshop will be based around DSi's WDSD 2017 Theme #MyVoiceMyCommunity and is open to all people with Down syndrome, families, and other interested persons. The workshop will provide very useful information and assistance as a "pre-event" for the following: 

Open Dialogue at UN Geneva - 22 March 2017

#MyVoiceMyCommunity – Enabling people with Down syndrome to speak up, be heard and influence government policy and action, to be fully included in the community

The Permanent Mission of Brazil to the United Nations Geneva is hosting a side event to the UN Human Rights Council sessions on 22 March 2017 at the Palais des Nations, UN in Geneva, from 12 to 2pm. The event will comprise an "Open Dialogue" between people with Down syndrome and policy makers, which may include Mission representatives, as well as the UN Human Rights Council and members of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
