IDA works across the United Nations to make sure its human rights and sustainable development processes uphold the highest standards of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities - the CRPD.
We also support the UN General Assembly, UN Secretariat and UN agencies—such as UNICEF, the World Bank and the World Health Organisation—to help ensure that the human rights of all persons with disabilities are an integral part of their work.
The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is a landmark international treaty. It is a comprehensive human rights Convention and international development tool, and is at the heart of the disability rights movement.
IDA, along with the International Disability and Development Consortium and other allies across the disability rights movement, successfully advocated for total of 11 references to persons with disabilities in the 2030 Agenda: the UN Agreement that contains the Sustainable Development Goals.
