IDA President Dr. Nawaf Kabbara moderated a high-level side-event celebrating 10 years of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities, organised by OHCHR and the Special Rapporteur Dr. Heba Hagrass, and co-sponsored by the Permanent Missions of New Zealand, Mexico, Finland, and China, as well as a wide range of UN agencies and other stakeholders.
The discussions between Ambassadors and the three Special Rapporteurs highlighted the immense contribution of the mandate to the international human rights framework on the rights of persons with disabilities, matched by a significant period of strengthened disability inclusion in all facets of life.
