Resolutions

There are references to persons with disabilities in the following resolutions adopted during the 17th session of the HRC: Mandate of the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children; The right to education: follow-up to Human Rights Council resolution 8/4; Accelerating efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women: ensuring due diligence in protection; The right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health; Migrants and asylum-seekers fleeing from events in North Africa; Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on a communications procedure.

Oral statements made by IDA

The International Disability Alliance made three statements, on violence against women/freedom of expression, education, poverty. In addition, IDA delivered a statement on behalf of the Austrian National Council of Persons with Disabilities upon the adoption of the Report of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Austria.

Special Procedures

UPR

Fifteen out of sixteen UPR working group reports adopted at the 10th session of the UPR (January-February 2011) included recommendations on the rights of persons with disabilities and a number of countries have already accepted recommendations referring to disability.
